A man from Fairfax, Missouri was injured in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer Thursday.
According to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year-old Jordan Hughes was traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 when he lost control of his 1996 Pontiac on the snowy road. Hughes’ vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2001 FRHT tractor-trailer before sliding off the road.
The tractor-trailer ran off the road into an embankment, blocking the northbound lane of the highway.
Authorities say Hughes was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He was transported by Atchison-Holt Ambulance to Fairfax community Hospital, where he is believed to be in serious condition.
The 70 year-old driver of the tractor-trailer, Jay Deyoung, was not injured in the crash.
