16 families and victims of an Allentown, Pennsylvania gas explosion that occurred last month recently received their first checks as compensation for their injuries. Five people were killed in the tragic gas explosion.
The gas explosion occurred in a neighborhood in Allentown and left 27 homes damaged, and 8 destroyed. The first round of checks sent out from the Allentown gas explosion relief fund ranged from $500 to $5,000 and totaled $31, 380.
Donations to the fund have totaled around $118,000. The fund was set up as a way to help the families meet immediate needs, like hospital bills and medical expenses related to injuries caused by the gas explosion. A second round of checks from the fund will be sent out to the victims in a couple weeks.
Unfortunately, the donations made have not amounted to enough to help all of the families meet all of their needs and they may need to seek legal help for their injuries.
