Paul Mueller Company says William “Cole” Hambelton died just before 9 a.m. Thursday following an accident in the north yard.
“Cole was injured earlier this morning in an accident in our north yard. We will provide details about the arrangement as they become available,” says the company in an official statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and closest co-workers.”
Emergency crews were called to the scene on West Phelps shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Springfield police told KOLR10 News the man was pinned between a trailer and another piece of equipment.
Hambleton was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Operational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has compliance officers at the scene conducting an investigation.
Paul Mueller Company had three “serious” safety violations in 2009, according to OSHA’s website. Those cases are now closed.
