Stolen car causes Missouri truck accident

A person who allegedly stole a car and drove the wrong way on the road, caused a truck accident that injured six people.

The driver of the truck was speeding away from police and driving the wrong way on U.S. 71. Police were following the vehicle because it had been called in as stolen. Officials found the alleged suspect while he was trying to break into another vehicle.

When he saw the police were onto him, he fled the scene. The chase ended with the truck causing a major accident. Officials have said that the injuries caused in the accident were all non-life threatening.

Pedestrian killed in accident on I-70

A teenager was killed in a pedestrian accident on I-70 on July 15.

A witness told officials that the teenager was attempting to cross the interstate with a friend after leaving Circle K when the 18-year-old was struck by multiple vehicles.

The friend wasn’t hurt, but the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. Only one of the vehicles stopped to talk to police, the 23-year-old driver was not ticketed after the incident. The accident caused the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 to be shut down while police investigated.

Man charged in fatal car crash

Man faces charges after car accident that injured eight and killed one. The man was charged with involuntary manslaughter, drug possession, unlawful use of weapons, and eight counts of second-degree assault.

The 50-year-old caused a three-car accident after striking a passing vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to strike another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was killed.

Three people were injured in the second car and five people in the third vehicle were injured. The accident occurred on Highway 45 near Audrain County Route A.

Explosion in lab at Missouri University

An explosion in a biochemistry lab at Missouri University left four people injured.

The lab belonged to a professor at the University, but she did not comment on any details of the explosion. The lab was commonly used for experiments concerning bacteria.

The people involved in the accident included a graduate student, two post doctoral students and a lab technician were all working in the lab at the time the explosion occurred. One of the victims remains in the hospital, but is listed as good condition.

The source of  the ignition of the fire is unknown, but it is thought that the flammable combination of gases used in the lab somehow got involved with the ignition source.

Worker fell 30 feet in St. Louis workplace accident

A worker was injured after falling 30 feet in a construction site accident in St. Louis, Missouri.

The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at a brewery on Lemp. According to officials, the man was waiting for the elevator to take him downstairs and when the door opened he stepped forward. The man did not look down to realize that the platform was not there when the elevator doors arrived.

The 28-year-old man is employed with True North Wireless and is currently in critical condition after the three-story fall. A full investigation into the accident will be done by officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Four injured in accident on Highway 33

Four people, including to two children, were injured in a car accident on Highway 33 in Osborn.

A 22-year-old male was driving the car when he saw a northbound truck in the same lane that was attempting to make a turn. The truck then tried to swerve to avoid the car, but the car still struck the truck in the rear.

Both vehicles received extensive damage, but the driver of the truck was not hurt. The four people were transported to the hospital in a private vehicle to be treated for their injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
