The Springfield Police Department is investigating a fatal crash overnight in southeast Springfield. Rance Porter, 40, of Rogersville was killed when her 1997 Saturn veered off westbound James River Freeway into oncoming traffic just east of U.S. 65. Her vehicle struck a car being driven east by Susan Click, 53, who is also from Rogersville. The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Friday. Police say Porter was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Click was also treated for non-life threatening injuries. “Investigators have not yet determined what caused Porter’s vehicle to cross in to opposing traffic and the investigation is ongoing,” says Springfield PD in an early morning news release
