Three people were killed late Monday when a driver missed a curve, ran off the road and struck a utility pole and a tree, the Missouri Highway Patrol
said. The one-car crash happened at 10:20 p.m. on Main Street in the New Madrid County town. The driver, Dylan Cornett, 19, of Gideon, went out of control. He was killed in the crash, along with two passengers, Hayley Cagle, 15, and Scottie Vires, 31, both of Gideon. All three were pronounced dead at the scene by the New Madrid County coroner. A third passenger, Gary Cagle, 14, of Gideon, was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital with serious injuries. No one in the car was wearing a seat belt.
