Father and Son Killed When Train Struck Dump Truck

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a father and son were killed when a dump truck was struck by an oncoming train near Seymour.

Gary Lee, 58, and Chad Lee, 34, were pronounced dead at the scene on Oak Lawn Road, just south of U.S. 60, according to a highway patrol crash report.

The 1990 International dump truck, driven by Chad Lee, was southbound when it failed to yield to the eastbound Burlington Northern locomotive, according to the report.

The highway patrol noted the railroad crossing is signaled by crossbucks. Neither control arms nor lights are used at the crossing to warn drivers of oncoming trains.
